God when I see tv ads about abandoned animals I get very emotional.
Some of the wounds will never go. I imagine its the same way as when a parent loses a child then goes on to have another. It can never replace the first child. I know people will huff at me comparing dogs to children but that is just how deeply I love and care for them. I will get this dog (today!) and I will love it and care for it but I'm always going to miss Frankie. I know that.
That dog is amazing. I don't think you should view it as "helping you heal your wounds" as much as "opening up a spot in your heart for a new friend." because that sends positive vibes.

He's a cutie. And I understand the whole replacement feelings. I felt that way when our first sheltie passed. But it turned out that Sierra wasn't a replacement at all. I'd say at first I loved Sasha more but the longer we had Sierra the more I loved her. I ended up loving them equally but in different ways as they were very different special ladies. Oh I love Sasha and Sierra and Frankie and you and your new dog. I hope you two get along great. I know any dog who gets to be with you is extremely lucky. You've got a lot of love in your heart :)

And gosh thanks Sen. I hope I can give this dog a good home. I'm more excited now as I'm getting him today but I'm still nervous too. It'll be strange no doubt, but I am looking forward to it, and yeah I know all dogs have different personalities as much as animal haters don't want to believe, and this dog could never be Frankie and I don't want him to be more importantly. I just still feel like I'm not respecting Frankie by getting a dog so soon after she passed.
