Writing is better is you're writing about something you feel particularly strongly about or have a great interest in. Overall it is still hard though, I have to agree with you there, but don't just give it up because of the effort needed alone.
If you truly enjoy it, if you truly see yourself still enjoying it in the future, then go through with it. Work with it and make it something you can excel in. :)
I've written nearly 5000 words and not even finished the first chapter or part and this thing keeps getting bigger in my head and all I can think while writing it is "I FUCKING SUCK AT THIS" :(

I used to write fanfiction and every time I think about it my stomach drops and I just want to be alone and wish it never happened because it was so awful. It doesn't matter that I was but 13 and foolish, it doesn't matter that I will never see it again. It's always there, on the internet, and it is terrible.
But writing is p hard so you should stop for that reason too.

Definitely don't write fanfiction - unless that's what you like to do, obviously, then don't listen to me.
Write what motivates you, what inspires you, and your writing will flow like water.
But yeah, even then, it's still hard, with all these damn rules and blah blah.

I love fanfiction. I'm aware of how sad that is but I've been into it for like 10+ years now and thats not about to change anytime soon.
And it is what motivates or inspires me I suppose and not much else in my life does really. It's just hard because I am not a writer and I don't want to write something that people will think is written by a 12 year old.
