Elvis

Posted by Gagsy - April 18th, 2010

I never actually quite realised exactly how good Elvis was until today. I mean, the man obviously had a great singing voice, unquestionable. I guess I never really properly listened to him and watched him, until today when a song of his that I hadn't heard in years came on the radio;

If I Can Dream

After it finished, I had to youtube it and watch the video and finally saw how good of a performer Elvis really was and I just felt so convinced by his performance in this song, as if he gave everything for it and it shows. So now I'm off to listen to his greatest hits and enjoy the legend that was Elvis Presley, because he truly was The King.

Besides, what a beautiful song.

And while I can think
While I can walk
While I can stand
While I can talk
While I can dream
Please let my dream
Come true
Right now

DAMMIT HE'S NOT DEAD!!! ALIENS ABDUCTED HIM, I SWEAR!!!

WE SHOULD STILL CELEBRATE HIS LEGACY THOUGH.

you're a faggot for not realising earlier

Well I knew how great he was, but not quite how amazing he was.

suspicious minds <3

We're caught in a trap <3

i gotta take a shit

Who are you, Mechabloby?

Who are you, TehSlapHappy?

Yes, yes I am.

If you turn your female insidey parts inside out, then you get a penis.

If you turn your penis inside out you'll have an inside out penis.

I've never really been a fan of Elvis.
I mean yeah, he's a legend and really good at singing and stuff. I just wouldn't choose to listen to Elvis if someone gave me a choice between him and someone else.

You really should try to though sometimes. So many classics, and remember this is the guy who likely got some of the bands you love into music.

also, as great as a man elvis was, I could never get into his music. Johnny cash always has a place in my heart

You always did suck/smell.

I have the "If I Can Dream" duet on my I-Pod

I love when he sings the part

Out there in the dark
There's a beckoning candle

It's just so excellent

With Celine Dion? I know she did a 'duet' with him on American Idol a few years back. It was great visual effects.

Yes, that's my favourite part of the song too. It sounds quite raw for him, and just beautiful.

Elvis was great. It's not often people pay attention to the oldies, unfortunately. Give Frank Sinatra a try: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E2hYD IFDIU

Would have been great seeing these guys in concert...

Dude, I've known about Frank Sinatra for years too, don't worry =P

God, I remember when he died and I watched some tv special with my dad about him, he was fantastic, and a few years ago we went to see the Sinatra musical (Google it) with him and I admit I had a few tears in my eyes when the ending cames. Sinatra singing My Way and his image put against a screen to make it look like he's actually there. Was great.

Also, I do pay more attention to the oldies then most people my age I know I think. Motown is mostly all I listen to these days, I still like my modern music but I just find the old stuff much more passionate and real. I agree more people should listen to the old classics every now and then.

I love Motown

I think a lot of people don't recognize just how many great artists came out of that group.

Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, etc.

I love all of them, too bad the time is coming when they'll start pushing daisies

Bill Withers is still my all time favorite

You just grew cooler in my eyes. As cool as people who listen to motown can be 8]

My favourites are Four Tops and Diana Ross myself but all the guys you named are still great too and others like The Temptations, Gladys Knight, Jackson 5. Yeah truly a great music period.

I was upset by the death of Levi Stubbs in 2008, the Four Tops singer. To me, he really did have the best singing voice ever, and it's such a shame.

well that song was woderful

It certainly is.

You're on your way to the 30,000 forum.

You're an idiot.

Elvis is a fat faggot and he is dead.

He's fucked more women in his short life then you'll ever hope to fuck in what will be a long unfulfilling life.

I dunno why, but reading your blogs every so often is quite entertaining. =P

Lies and slander :3 Though thanks all the same!

DAMN YOU AND YOUR PINK CASTLE CRASHING WAAAAAAAYS

Why is everyone trying to make me feel guilty? :(

My life isn't going to be long, and that bit about having him sex with more women sort of implies that I'll be having sex with any amount of women ever.

Lmfao. I love your honesty.

I totally agree, actually. This post actually opens my eyes to how talented Elvis actually is. Its true, its too bad he had to pass away.

I can appreciate that Elvis is still one of the best musicians to ever pick up a microphone, but I can't enjoy his music.

I'm not sure what it is, I just can't force myself to listen to an entire song. I guess he's just boring to me.

I came here to say happy birthday but I just wanted to let you know that Elvis likes little girls. A lot.
